The term marketing refers to the act of promoting one’s business whether it maybe goods or services via advertising. The term was first introduced in the 1990’s where companies would advertise their services via mass emailing. Then came the years 1995-2000 where other online marketing platforms were introduced like search marketing, search engine optimization, search evolves and blogs. This was followed by the launch of social media in 2003. Since then major social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn just to name a few have provided a large platform for business owners to advertise to customers and potential customers.

Adapting online marketing in a world where 3.2 billion people have access to the Internet is a no brainer. It allows one to reach the masses without investing too much time and money into getting their business out there.  The benefits of online marketing are endless especially through social media. Firstly, online marketing allows a company to have a specific platform through brand recognition, which attracts new customers, and keep the current ones interested.  It also acts as a useful medium to enhance and build customer relationships.

Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook allow for clients and business owners to communicate in a public space e.g. commenting on statutes or privately through direct messaging, where business owners can acquire personal contact information from their customers. Social media marketing also gives an insight to whether or not customers are satisfied with goods and services being offered based on the comments they make about the products. Having this knowledge will allow one develop new tactics to improve their business and improve customer satisfaction. Social media marketing also increases traffic to one’s main site as it acts channel-linking customers from e.g. Facebook to the business’s main site.

Twitter is a form of live micro-blogging and any sort of news headlines or latest trend can be shared with millions of users around the world right away. Using twitter to market one’s business will surely give them the edge. Firstly this platform is free of cost so there is no excuse not to use it. It’s also a great way to keep up to date with the latest trends in your industry so that one can apply them to their business and making them a better competitor. Additionally, Twitter allows one to market existing products and services and introduce new ones to their customers, thereby boosting sales.

Should You Change Your Skin Routine?

I started thinking about my skin care routine years ago since I knew what I was doing was old fashioned. Using the same cleanser on my face as I did on my body was harming and drying my skin. Therefore, I started seeing an esthetician and she put me on the right track.

Little did I know that I’d too become an esthetician and the rest is history. We all can do something about the aging process and our skin. Making specific changes can help us minimize and wrinkles, dry skin, and age spots. Your skin can indeed be beautiful and glowing again.

Going to bed without cleansing and moisturizing your skin is no longer acceptable. As you age, it is so important to remove makeup and debris from your skin. This will allow your skin to breathe and unclog your pores.

Aging brings with it thinner skin since it loses fat cells. Your veins are easily seen and it’s easier to bruise as well. Protecting your skin against bumps take longer to get well. Clear and healthy skin should be your goal.

Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your body and skin. Waxing, facials, and exercise are better experiences with hydrated skin.

Water helps your skin in looking younger, and tanning does the opposite. The sun is drying, causes wrinkles, and dehydrates. Have you ever seen someone who tans often? Do they look older to you? If you don’t see it now, you will see it in years to come.

If you smoke, stop. Too much perfume, soap, and hot showers all add to the aging process. Exercise and yoga will help in relieving stress and to better care for your skin.

Although water cleanses, you’ll need a moisturizer to smooth and keep your skin soft. Daily use is essential in addition to bathing in warm water; especially if you live in a warm weather state or use air conditioning.

Too much sun causes age spots and skin tags (small, flesh-colored growths). Apply proper SPF 15 or above and protective clothing to have as much coverage as possible.

Also, many skin care products simply do not perform well, if at all. It is best to consult your esthetician if you’re concerned about wrinkles and age spots. She can correctly guide you to the proper skin care products.

Avoid products which contain too much perfume or which may contain too many types of fillers. If a product causes your skin to itch, tingle, or turn red, stop using it immediately and see your esthetician.

If you take care of your skin in your youth, you’ll have fewer troubles. Alter your skin routine to avoid issues as you age. Cleaning and moisturizing will be your skin’s best friend. Treat it kindly.

Being a small business owner has it many trials. While gaining new customers, you also have to decide the right products, services to offer, and at what times, along with many other decisions. You hope to make the right decisions while not spending so much money in the process.

However, there comes a time when marketing has to be revisited to make sure you’re getting the most out of your time and money.

Many small businesses market their business by using the wrong tactics. Time and money spent should be analyzed fully before considering what is in the budget and what will yield the best results.

Print ads, writing articles, and networking do well with marketing for new clients, however, what other marketing efforts can produce results?

Following are efforts that hurt marketing efforts:

1. Lack of written plans. Writing one will allow you to go back and see what has been accomplished and what will be done in the future.  Goals have a better chance of being accomplished when written.

2. Lack of a marketing plan. A plan will keep you focused and on budget. Focusing on a marketing plan will keep you looking at the bottom line.

3. Short term goals. Making decisions to stop marketing campaign when immediate results are not met and marketing inconsistently will hurt your efforts. It takes up to seven, and maybe more, touches to gain a client. Stopping too soon may but a bit presumptuous that could lead to lost clients.

1. Write objectives. Writing goals is an effective way to visualize where you are and where you are headed.

2. Create a marketing plan. A marketing plan is essential to see where your time and money is going. In addition, it can be used a road map.

3. Remain focused on your goals. Set goals you wish to accomplish and stand by them. Adjust them when needed.

4. Keep up with marketing activities to determine what is and is not working.

5. Select many marketing efforts. Use a mixture to reach a larger reach

6. Know your environment. Base your prices, strategy, and strengths based upon variables that you have researched and analyzed. Knowing your researched points will help you create an effective plan.

7. Institute a budget that is well balanced and stick to your financial output so you will not overextend yourself. Spend enough to grow but not enough to go broke.

Create a plan to effectively market your business. It should state who you are and why they should buy from you.

These guidelines will help you create a successful business. A great starting point is the execution of a strong marketing plan.

How Do You Convert Prospects Into Customers?

If you’re starting a new company or looking for new business, your number one concern is customers.  You’ve probably read and heard a million and one ideas about how to build relationships, retain customers, create a list of potential customers, and inspire consumer loyalty.  But the tough question is, “How do I convert prospects into customers?”

There are a lot of people out there who see your ads, think about them, and maybe even say, “I ought to…”  They’re just waiting to be convinced to do something about it.  I have said the same thing myself. I’m thinking about buying, but there is something holding me back. It’s not about the money all the time either. However, there is something you can do to get them moving!

1. Improve Your Offer

No one can pass up the deal that’s “too good to resist.”  Think about it… how often do your customers want your product, but just want something else a little more?  That leaves you with a long list of “incomplete sales” that have the potential to be converted into real sales and profit.  Perhaps, just sweeten the deal.  Make the offer so good they can’t resist.

Now, I’m in no way suggesting that you drop your prices to sweeten the deal.  Remember, you do have to eat. You can just as easily load it up with bonuses to increase the perceived value without cutting away at your profit.  Bonuses motivate sales, maybe even more than cut prices.

Don’t let them linger too long.  Get them into the door immediately with a deadline.  They may have to put a competitor’s purchase on hold to get your deal, but hey, what’s wrong with that?

2. Follow Up

How would you like to increase your sales by more than 50 percent?  Sounds good, right?  There’s really a very simple way that you can implement into your business and that’s with follow ups.

Chances are prospective customers are not going to buy your product the first time they see or hear about it.  Maybe it’ll be the third or fourth, but they have to hear from you that third or fourth time before they actually become a customer.  Do you have a follow up system in place? Believe me, I didn’t. I hand delivered my business cards to businesses, but didn’t think about a follow up plan. Since doing my research, I knew I had to return with new offers.

Simply contact the “almost customer” every month with a new offer, or give them more information about the product they are showing interest in.  It doesn’t have to be an intricate process.  Keeping the contact there goes a long way toward building trust… the key to finding life-long customers.

Internet Marketers experience a high number of customers who browse their site, then click away.  You can’t follow up without some form of contact information.  A great way to gather the information you need is to offer a free ebook or informative report that consumers will find of interest.  I’m in the process of writing my ebook now and will have it available soon. Once you’ve gotten their information to email them the product, you have what you need to keep in contact, and work on converting them into loyal customers.

Personalize your products as much as possible.  If you can get the first name of your customer, you’re a step closer to making that sale. Personalized messages have greater appeal than “addressed to occupant” messages.
